Equipment

Helmet – Double ear protection and a chin strap is mandatory at all levels. Some helmets are sized (eg S, M, L) but most are one size fits all. Colour of choice is Navy Blue, but other colours are acceptable. Enderby Minor Baseball provides some shared helmets for all teams, but it is recommended that players bring their own helmets to practices and games.

Athletic Protector – Jock’s for boys and Jill’s for girls. This seems to be the toughest one for kids to get used to. It is mandatory at all levels. The Jock for boys is a cup that fits around the genitals. Sizing is usually based on waist size. The biggest complaint is the cup is too big and cuts into the inner leg. The girls get a pelvic protector usually made of dense foam and protects the pelvic bone.

Baseball Pants – Grey pants form an integral part of the Legionnaires uniform but are not supplied by Enderby Minor Baseball.  Pants can be purchased from Sun Valley Sports in Vernon. If you purchase pants from Sun Vally Sports, tell them you play for Enderby Minor Baseball to ensure you purchase the correct ones.

  • 6U / 7U – Baseball pants are optional.
  • 9U / 11U / 13U / 15U – Baseball pants are mandatory.

Footwear

  • 6U / 7U – Baseball cleats with a plastic or rubber base is recommended but not required. Running shoes are acceptable.
  • 9U / 11U / 13U - Baseball cleats with a plastic or rubber base are required.
  • 15U – Baseball cleats are required.  Steel cleats are allowed provided they are not sharpened or pointed.

Glove – The glove should be soft and easy to open and close. Parents need to start early to help break in new gloves. A larger glove will only make it harder for kids to make plays. The following is only a guideline for sizing:

  • 9U and younger: 9-10 inch
  • 11U: 10-11 inch
  • 13U / 15U: should be based on position. (Infielder smaller / outfielder larger)

Bats – Enderby Minor Baseball provides bats for all teams.  If players wish to bring their own bat(s) to practices and games, then they must adhere to following rules:

7U – 30 inch, 2 5/8 inch max diameter, unlimited length/weight drop – bats with greater than 2 ¼ in. barrel diameter must be marked “USABB or stamped with BPF 1.15” (Bat Performance Factor)

9U – 30 inch, 2 5/8 inch max diameter, unlimited length/weight drop - bats with greater than 2 ¼ in. barrel diameter must be marked “USABB” or stamped with BPF 1.15” (Bat Performance Factor)

11U – 32 inch, 2 3/4 inch max diameter, unlimited length/weight drop - must be marked “USSSA” or stamped with BPF 1.15” (Bat Performance Factor) or USA stamped.

13U – 32 inch, 2 3/4 inch max diameter, -10 max length/weight drop, marked BPF 1.15” or “USABB

15U – 2 3/4 inch max diameter, max -10 weight to length ratio, composite, aluminum or wood combination
